The Rocker and the Show King Make Beautiful Music Together in Memphis

David Bryan and Joe DiPietro aren't the most likely songwriting team to make it to Broadway, yet somehow the Bon Jovi keyboardist and the librettist/lyricist of musicals like I Love You, You're Perfect Now Change and All Shook Up have made beautiful music together in Memphis, the new musical now in previews at the Shubert Theatre. in telling the 1950s romance of a white DJ and a black soul singer, the pair have crafted a score that honors the rhythm and blues greats of the musically-rich city while also sounding vibrantly contemporary.
